Our Origin Story & Purpose

Mint SEO was founded by me, John Butterworth, in 2024. I have worked in SEO and digital marketing for over 10 years. I’ve run SEO departments for market-leading brands and several marketing agencies. I’ve presented at SEO industry events (including the SEO Mastery Summit). But most importantly, I’ve transformed the financial performance of many businesses.

There is no area of SEO that I am not passionate about. Whether its content writing, keyword research, landing page design and development, link building, fixing technical SEO errors, or auditing websites – I love all of it, I’ve truly found my calling.

SEO is very technical, there’s no getting away from that. Many SEO professionals are fantastic at driving organic traffic to your website, but fail to convert that traffic into paying customers for your business. That’s because they’re too Steve Wozniak and not enough Steve Jobs.

I founded Mint SEO to fix this trend and to provide ecommerce store owners with the complete package. Not only do we have the technical skills to bring organic traffic onto your website, we also have the marketing skills to compel that traffic to take action!

Our focus is always on generating new customers for your business, its the most important metric and the one we want to be judged on. If you’re looking for an ecommerce SEO service that provides an ROI and doesn’t try to confuse you with graphs or vanity metrics, then hit the button below.

Our Approach To SEO

Before hiring any SEO agency, we strongly recommend that you ask them questions regarding how they would implement SEO on your website. SEO is a fast changing industry and what worked last year might no longer work today.

Below are the 6 areas of SEO that we believe drive the biggest impact in 2025; these are the essential tasks we prioritise for every client. Make sure anyone you work with is implementing the below on your website 👇

Meeting Searcher Intent

Google is very good at knowing which content people want to see when making a search.

If your webpage content isn’t relevant to the keyword you’re trying to rank for, Google won’t display your website in SERPs.

E-E-A-T

Experience, Expertise, Authority, and Trust (E-E-A-T) is a crucial part of Google’s algorithm.

Google wants to see who operates your website, your industry experience, and that your content is not 100% written by AI.

Unique Information Gain Score

All content published on your website must contain unique information and insights.

If your website content is a rehash of your competitor’s content then this gives Google no incentive to display your website above theirs.

Internal Links & Anchor Text

The Googlebot works by landing on your website and clicking each of your links to navigate your website.

Inserting as many internal links as possible with keyword rich anchor text is vital to give the Googlebot context about your website content.

Website Schema Markup

Schema Markup is a snippet of code that is placed onto your webpage to help search engines understand your page content.

It is unseen on the front end and is a powerful tool to provide extra information to help search engines process your website.

Core Web Vitals

Core Web Vitals (CWVs) are a core part of the modern Google algorithm. Essentially, they assess the loading time and useability of your webpages.

Fast websites with a great UX receive a boost in Google Search results, while failing sites are penalised.
